The objective of the STEM Symposium is to inspire and motivate these young students to take courses now in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) before they graduate to prepare themselves better for jobs in Houston’s technology industry. The GOE expects 1,400 students to attend the symposium from several Independent School Districts (ISDs) such as Cleveland, Houston, Friendswood, Pearland, Alvin, Dickenson, Crosby and Channel View. Each student will be provided with a healthy breakfast and a lunch box from Aramark. Astronaut Bonnie Dunbar is expected to open the annual STEM symposium. Thirty professionals from the Houston technology industries deliver their inspiring speeches.
